The Romanian Cultural Institute will organise between 20 - 22 April 2009, for the second consecutive year, Romania's stand at The London Book Fair. The Institute aims to present a comprehensive profile of the book market in Romania and has invited 32 major publishing houses to attend the fair.
The participating publishing houses are: All, Art, Brumar, Cartea Romaneasca, Casa Radio, Corint, Corint Junior, Curtea Veche, Hasefer, House of Guides, Humanitas, Humanitas Fiction, Humanitas Multimedia, Idea, Ideea Europeana, Igloo Media, Junimea, Leda, Minerva, Nemira, Niculescu, Orizonturi, Polirom, RAO, Taj Books & Media, Trei, Tritonic, Vellant, Vivaldi, Vox, Vremea and The Romanian Cultural Institute Publishing House.
Together with more than 800 titles of the Romanian publishing houses (books, translations from English, audio books, CDs, albums, tourist guides, dictionaries), the stand will also include books published abroad, through the funding programmes of the National Book Centre and albums published by the Institute's Publishing House.
On 20 April, 4 pm, at the Romanian stand, the Romanian Cultural Institute will organise a discussion, based on the book Once Upon Another Time by Jessica Douglas-Home, about Romanian culture's presence in the UK and how it is perceived. The event, called ROOMania WITH A VIEW, will have as guest speakers: Jessica Douglas-Home, Mark Almond, Anne Stewart, Anthony Daniels (aka Theodore Dalrymple). The host of the discussion will be Horia-Roman Patapievici, the president of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
On the occasion of Romania's presence at the London Book Fair, the Romanian Cultural Institute in London will organise the Constantin Brancusi the Photographer exhibition, open between 22 April - 13 May in 1 Belgrave Square, London.
