Berlin In 2009, two cycles of Romanian language courses were held at the Titu Maiorescu Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin, one for beginners and one for intermediate learners. The courses were given by Dr. Valeriu Stancu, a lecturer at the Humboldt University in Berlin. The courses are provided free of charge.

Since 2009, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris and the Romanian Language Institute have held sessions to evaluate the language skills of speakers of Romanian as a foreign language. Structured according to six levels of competence, in conformity with the European linguistic passport, testing aims to attest language skills through a diploma recognised at the European level, and is the only certification of this kind for Romanian as a foreign language. Students, managers, candidates for positions in European institutions, and other categories of professional can thereby obtain certification of their Romanian skills, now that it is an official language of the European Union and increasingly sought after in the labour market.

Venice Since 1998, following the signing of a agreement between the Ca' Foscari University and the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice, the Institute has held courses in Romanian literature, culture and language for Italian students at its headquarters. On 23 October 2009, the Agreement was renewed for the next three academic years. It stipulates that the Romanian language shall continue to be taught within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures in Venice in the form of university courses on Romanian literature, culture and language, with a duration of between one and three years. Likewise, language and literature students at the Venetian university have the option of finalising their studies with a Degree dissertation on a Romanian topic.
