The third concert in RCI London’s musical summer series features Romanian violinist Maria Gîlicel and British pianist Craig White, in a remarkable recital consisting of pieces by Mozart, Debussy and Enescu.

Maria Gîlicel started her violin and music studies at the age of four. She acquired her degree at the Conservatorio Adolfo Salazar in Madrid under Farid Fasla, before graduating with First Class Honours as a student of Ani Schnarch at the Royal College of Music, where she is now taking her Masters-in-Performance with Maciej Rakowski.
Maria made her début at an early age at Madrid's National Auditorium and has since performed in many venues, including Wigmore Hall, Buckingham Palace, Royal Festival Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Museo Sartorio (Trieste), Casa Tartini (Slovenia) and the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. In 2018, she performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as part of its Academy during a tour in Italy. She also took part in the BBC Symphony Orchestra Pathway Scheme. She is a founder of the Chloé Piano Trio and the Thaleia String Quartet. Most recently she won the Tillett Trust Young Artists' Platform and the RPS Emily Anderson Prize.
Craig White gained a BA in Music at St Catherine’s College, Oxford in 2005. Following a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying with Michael Dussek and Diana Ketler, he was also a Fellow in Piano Accompaniment at the Royal Conservatory of Music. His Wigmore Hall debut was in October 2010, with oboist James Turnbull. In 2011, he toured Japan with soprano Erika Colon, and conducted London Youth Opera's “The Magic Flute”. In 2014, he was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Much in demand as a chamber musician and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists, Craig White spent 2015 living in Germany, working for the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. He also toured the UK with Russian violinist Adelia Myslov and appeared with Soprano Eleanor Dennis performing Mozart arias for the BBC programme "The Joy of Mozart". In 2018, he performed on BBC Radio 3 in a live soundtrack performance of Daniel Elms’ “Bethia” as part of the Hull New Music Biennial.
