With the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, between the 24th of November and the 18th of December 2011, the Tel Aviv Artists´ House will display the Romanian contemporary art exhibition „Colouring the Grey – State of Mind".
There will be presented paintings and sculptures of 8 young artists from some of the most important art centers in Romania: Radu Belcin (Brașov), Dragoș Burlacu (Bacău), Francisc Chiuariu (Bucharest), Ana Maria Micu (Cluj), Cătălin Petrișor (Craiova), Flavia Pitiș (Brașov), Bogdan Rața (Timișoara) și Aurel Tar (Bucharest).
„Colouring the Grey – State of Mind" illustrates an overview on the East-European identity in tran¬sition. The concept of the unified, lost, regained and redesig¬ned identity defines new specific features of the Romanian contemporary art after more than 20 years of transition. Just as the present colours of the public buildings and blocks of flats, so do the states of mind begin to escape the grey area of indefiniteness and confusions. The transition naturally ge¬nerates the mental state of grey, which is coloured now by precise ideas and clear concepts, being "purified" by colours within the current context. The project was previously presented at the Moscow Biennale this year. After Tel Aviv, the exhibition will travel to other European countries.
