Do not miss the one-off performance of Mario Diament's 'Lost Tango', teaming one of Romania's most beloved actresses, Maia Morgenstern, with her son, Tudor Aaron Istodor. The show, a Jewish Theatre of Bucharest production, is a demonstration of force and skill from one of the most accomplished actresses working in theatre today and the very proof that talent can be inherited.
The play is presented as part of the widely enjoyed 'Tales Told in Romanian' series, developed by independent promoter Claudia Cîrlig in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.

An actress and a journalist confront each other: one used by her trade to dissimulate and disguise, the other one used by his to uncover the truth. But the assumptions are not always followed and the price of finding out the truth may be to steep to pay.
A symbol of the Romanian theatre and film, Maia Morgenstern is probably best known in the English-speaking world for the role of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ'. Born in the Romanian capital in a Jewish family, she graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy of Bucharest in 1985. She then played at the Youth Theatre in Piatra Neamţ until 1988, and at the State Jewish Theatre of Bucharest between 1988 and 1990. From 1990 to 1998 she was a member of the company of the National Theatre in Bucharest, and since 1998 - of Bulandra Theatre. She is currently playing at the State Jewish Theatre of Bucharest, which she also runs, but continues to tour all over Romania. Maia Morgenstern is the recipient of numerous awards amongst which the 2004 Actress and Woman of the Year Award, awarded by the European Parliament, the 2004 EMMA Award for the part Mary in 'The Passion of the Christ', the 1993 Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival for the female lead part in 'The Oak', directed by Lucian Pintilie, the 1993 Romanian Association of Theatre Artists Best Actress Award for the lead part in 'Tonight: Lola Blau' and, in 1990, Lucia Sturdza Bulandra National Award for Best Actress, for the Medeea part in Andrei Şerban's 'Ancient Trilogy'.
Tudor Aaron Istodor is one of the most talented actors of the new generation. He was born in 1984 in an artistic family, being the son of renowned Maia Morgenstern and Small Theatre actor Claudiu Istodor. He discovered his passion for acting after graduating high school and ever since he's been acting in television shows, theatre plays and numerous films. Amongst his latest projects, we mention the leading role in the last screening of 'Miss Christina', directed by Alexandru Maftei, a leading role in 'Voyeur' by Gardner McKay at the Arts Theatre in Bucharest and in the 'Carpathian Garden' by Radu Iacoban at the Godot Café-Theatre. Tudor Istodor is also a guest actor of Act Theatre and the State Jewish Theatre of Bucharest.
