“Beyond Limits”: A Celebration of Paralympic Excellence

“Every step forward will bring you closer to the final victory.” – Alexandru Bologa

We are thrilled to invite you to the Private View of “Beyond Limits”, a solo photographic exhibition by London-based Romanian photographer Alexandru Radu Popescu. Dedicated to the Romanian and British Paralympic champions of the 2024 Paris Games, this special event is a tribute to their astonishing achievements and personal stories of resilience.

The Private View of the exhibition will take place on 22 October at 7 PM. On display in RCI London’s Brâncuşi Gallery from 23 to 25 October, 10am – 5pm, and between 11am – 1pm on Saturday 26th.

Organised in partnership with the Romanian Paralympic Committee, Romanian Embassy in the UK, British Embassy in Romania and British Council Romania.

Judo star Alexandru Bologa, who won gold for Romania at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024, is our special guest for the opening of the exhibition. He will be joined by Ciprian Anton, the Vice-President of the Romanian Paralympic Committee. Both are featuring in the exhibition.

Alexandru Radu Popescu has captured the essence of the Paralympic athletes in a stunning series of portraits. Each work pairs an iris, photographed up-close with a special lens, with half of the protagonist's face. This powerful juxtaposition creates striking, original portraits that delve beyond physical triumphs, celebrating the individuality, inner strength, and inherent worth of each champion. The exhibition shines a light on the beauty of diversity and the limitless potential of the human spirit. Join us on this visual journey and witness the remarkable stories of these extraordinary Paralympic champions!

Born in Romania in 1986 and settled in Great Britain in 2014, Alexandru Radu Popescu is one of the photographers commissioned by the British Paralympic team. Following his participation as a photographer, in 2015, at London Fashion Week, Alexandru expanded his portfolio to include concerts of famous Romanian artists performing in London. With studies in photography at the London College of Contemporary Arts and Morley College, Alexandru Radu Popescu is a member of the National Union of Journalists, the Royal Photographic Society and the Association of Photographers. He exhibited in London and Bucharest, and among his awards are two distinctions in the 35AWARDS competition: drone photography (2021) and mention in the Top 70 photographers in the United Kingdom (2024).

The event is kindly supported by Aqua Carpatica, Crystals of London, Up to Your Door and Levenes Solicitors.
