Several Romanian filmmakers on Saturday were presented awards at the 2016 Sarajevo Film Festival, the Romanian Culture Institute (ICR) in Vienna reported in a press statement.
"Album" (directed by Mehmet Can Mertoglu, cinematography by Marius Panduru) co-produced by Oana Iancu and Calin Peter Netzer, received the 16,000-euro Heart of Sarajevo trophy for the best feature film, as well as the CICAE and Cineuropa prizes awarded by the festival's partners.
"Caini" -Dogs (photo) -screenplay and direction by Bogdan Mirica, producer Marcela Ursu- won a special citation of the jury presided over by Elia Suleiman. Actor Ghoerghe Visu, starring as Hogas in the film, received the Heart of Sarajevo award for the best actor and a 2,500-euro prize.
The best documentary award went to "Doar o rasuflare" (Just a Breath) (directed by Monica Lazurean-Gorgan, prodcuers Monica Lazurean-Gorgan and Hanka Kastelikova), along with a 3,000-euro prize from Switzerland's Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Short film "4:15 PM Sfarsitul Lumii" ( 4:15 PM The End of the World) (directed by Catalin Rotaru and Gabi Virginia Sarga, producers Adina Sadeanu and Alex Tudor Craciun) won a special citation of the jury, while filmmaking project "Otto Barbarul" (Otto, the Barbarian) (directed by Ruxandra Ghitescu, producer Iuliana Tarnovetchi) won a 10,000-euro Macedonian Film Agency prize in the CineLink Co-production Market section.
"Touch Me Not" (directed by Adina Pintilie, producers Monica Lazurean-Gorgan and Adina Pintilie) won The Post Republic award, non-financial contribution in the form of postproduction services to the tune of 25,000 euros.
The festival's partners presented Carla Fotea the 4,000-euro Best Pack & Pitch Award (Talents Sarajevo Pack & Pitch), to be paid by the Chelia Sarajevo Studio for the postproduction of the soundtrack of the project displayed.
The 22nd edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival was held August 12-20, with the Romanian Culture Institute in Vienna being a partner that sustained the Romanian contesters in the festival.
As many as 10 Romanian productions ran in the competitive part of the festival, while 50 Romanian filmmakers and four filmmaking projects competed in the In Focus, CineLink Co-Production Market, CineLink Work in Progress and Docu Rough Cut Boutique sections.
