The event was attended by the film's director, Paul Negoescu, actor Iulian Postelnicu, producer Ana-Maria Voicu, and director of photography Ana Drăghici, who spoke about the film's production process. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Wang Yao, a film critic and researcher in Romanian cinema at the Beijing Film Academy, who shared his research on the evolution of Romanian films over the past 20 years and his impressions of the film screened.
"Men of Deeds" tells the story of Ilie, who is in his thirties and enjoys the easy life of a rural policeman. His passivity during a series of violent events soon turns him into an accomplice in a crime. Tension builds up, forcing Ilie to make a final decision. The film received six of the most important awards at the 17th edition of the Gopo Awards (including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Leading Actor, etc.) and was considered the best Romanian film of the year.
The screening was attended by Chinese students and cinephiles, as well as guests from the Romanian diaspora. The Q&A session was recorded and broadcast on China Radio International.
RCI considered the event a "success," providing the Chinese audience with the opportunity to engage with film industry professionals and learn more about trends in contemporary Romanian cinema. They stated, "The event was an important step in promoting Romanian culture beyond the country's borders and demonstrated the importance of cultural dialogue between nations."
