Screen Green! (4 - 11 November 2010) brings together documentaries from 14 European countries that focus on the ever relevant theme of the environment and humankind's fragile relationship with the natural world. Recent news regarding oil spills, environmental pollution and dwindling natural resources no longer concern just a minority of people but engage entire communities throughout the world.
The festival includes the Romanian films Green Line - Urban Transport and Pollution and Selective Waste Collection - from Myths to Reality, followed by Q&A with Dragos Bucurenci, President of the MaiMultVerde (More Green Association).
Green Line - Urban Transport and Pollution (prod. Anca Muresan, 26mins, 2007) looks at environment issues in Bucharest: traffic, air pollution, noise, waste, lack of alternative means of transportation (bicycles) and solutions for traffic jams. The presenter Dragos Bucurenci and his guests take a journey through the city, illustrating the diverse problems.
Selective Waste Collection - from Myths to Reality (dir. Hanno Hoffer, 12mins, 2010) explains the process from the bin to the recycling facility and encourages the population in Romania to collect selectively household waste. Seemingly the population is willing to learn as long as the necessary infrastructure is provided.
