Bogdan C. Iacob doutorou-se em História na Universidade Central Europeia com a tese Stalinism, Historians, and the Nation. History-Production in Communism Romania 1955-1966. Foi research fellow em várias instituições, das quais as mais recentes são Imre Kertész Kolleg (Jena) e Center of Advanced Studies (Sofia). A partir do mês de outubro de 2014 será research fellow no New Europe College (Bucareste). Publicou inúmeros artigos sobre temas como a história politica e cultural do comunismo, escrever história na Europa de Leste e sobre a receção do passado comunista.
