The Monthly EUNIC Clusters Meeting at the ICR Beijing Headquarters

ICR Beijing had the honor of hosting the monthly EUNIC clusters meeting today at its headquarters in Galaxy SOHO. The event held special significance, marking the transfer of the EUNIC presidency from Nestor Tyrovouzis, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Greece in China, to Federico Antonelli, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing. Italy will thus hold the EUNIC presidency in China for the next year, with the opportunity to continue and enhance cultural visibility and collaborations.

Distinguished diplomats and directors of cultural institutes from 12 countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy, Romania, Greece, as well as Patricia Conceicao from the Delegation of the European Union to China, attended the meeting. The presence of these representatives underscores the shared commitment to promoting European culture and developing impactful cultural initiatives in China. The meeting agenda included the following main topics:

  1. Joint Project "There's Ability in Disability" - Discussions focused on mobilizing for the common agenda of events and organizing the EUNIC Film Festival from September 15 to October 15, a crucial event for promoting social inclusion through art and culture.
  2. Election of the New EUNIC President and Honorary Country for 2024-2025 - A transition to new leadership to continue and develop cultural initiatives in China.
  3. Presentation of Summer Cultural Projects - An opportunity for each cluster to showcase their plans and identify possible collaborations and synergies between the different cultural institutes.
  4. Changes and Updates Related to the Status of Institutes and Cultural Activities in China - Essential discussions for adapting and optimizing cultural activities in the dynamic context of international relations and local regulations.
