Three concerts performed by the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir of Cluj in the Israel Festival, June 2-5 2012.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv is inviting the audiences, on June 2 and 5, 2012 to three exceptional concerts performed by the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir of Cluj at the Israel Festival, held in Jerusalem.
For over four decades, the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir of Cluj has been performing on the famous stages of the world, with great success, the singularity of its repertoire being represented by the vacillation of vocal-symphonic projects with opera and Acappella pieces, the emphasis being on acquainting the foreign audiences with the most important works of the Romanian composers.

This will be the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir’s first participation at the Israel Festival. Established in 1961, the Israel Festival takes place every year, for three weeks and is considered to be the most prestigious festival of performative arts in Israel. This year’s edition gathers on stage artists from Japan, France, Canada, Czech Republic, Romania, China, Great Britain, USA, Argentina, Austria, Colombia, Congo and Israel.

The program of the concerts:

June 2, 2012: Two Acappella concerts, conductor – Cornel Groza. Program: works by Purcell, Gluck, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov, Gheorghe Danga, Vasile Herman and Ludovicus Bardos.
At 11:00 and 13.00 - YMCA Auditorium Jerusalem
June 5, 2012: Christus, Franz Liszt’s Major Oratorio, performed in collaboration with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conductor – Meir Minsky. Soloists: Roman Trekel, Talia Or, Iris Vermillion and George Oniani.
At 20:00, the Jerusalem Theater, Henry Crown Hall.

Christus Oratorio, Franz Liszt’s most representative work, is an outstanding premiere in Israel. The composition includes Latin texts from the New Testament as well as various religious texts, hymns, and songs, that endow the entire oratorio with a melodramatic quality.
