Romanian Language Classes for Foreigners
ROMANIA(N) IN A NUTSHELL

If you want to study Romanian for your business, for your job or for fun, the language courses given by the Romanian Cultural Institute are the right choice!

Courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners at all modules!

The study groups comprise 8-12 students.
In order assess the knowledge in Romanian language of those enrolled, they will be given a language test before the beginning of the courses and will be placed in groups according to the evaluation of these tests.

Duration: 36 study hours Regular courses (1st, 2nd and 5th series): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30 PM to 8.30 PM (9 weeks)
Intensive courses (3rd and 4th series): Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 9 PM (4 weeks)

Applications can now be submitted for 2012 courses, for the following modules (series):

5th series: October 16th - December 13th (deadline October 9th ). Regular course: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6.30 PM to 8.30 PM (9 weeks)
Location: "Alexandru Vlahuţă" Secondary School, 5 Şcoala Floreasca St., Bucharest (Piaţa Dorobanţi area).
Costs: 850 RON or 200 Euros.
Payment conditions: The fee must be received before the deadline for the application. Please write the applicant's name on all the documents relating to bank transfer. All bank charges are the responsibility of the applicant.

Applications must be submitted to the e-mail address relatii.interne@icr.ro with a cc at: ana.borca@icr.ro or as a hard-copy, at the headquarters of the Institute. Please find attached the application form.

Conditions for withdrawal from the course: • If you inform the ICR team in writing, before the course starts, we will be able to refund you the course fee, minus an administrative charge of 10%.
• If you inform the ICR team in writing, during the first week of the course, you will get a credit report and will be reimbursed for the costs of the remaining unattended classes minus 25% of this amount, charged as administrative costs.
• No credits are reimbursed after the ending of the first week.

The Romanian Cultural Institute does not assume responsibility for obtaining or granting of visas in the case of the non-EU citizens that apply for a visa in order to participate to the Romanian Language Classes in Bucharest.
Also, the Institute does not have the obligation of providing accommodation in Bucharest for the foreign participants that do not reside in Romania, during their stay for these courses, this task falling under their personal concern.

Instructors
Ana Borca
(born in 1973) is a graduate of the Faculty of Roman-Germanic Philology as of 1995, holding a PhD in Philology since 2001, with a paper presented at the Faculty of Letters at the University of Bucharest. In January 2011 (25-29) she took up a specialized course in teaching Romanian as a foreign language, organized by the Institute for the Romanian Language as a European Language and the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Raised and educated in the historical Maramureş, Ana has a previous experience in Romania, working as a journalist, and now she is a specialist in teaching Romanian without using any other language, by emerging the students in a „linguistic bath". A former journalist, she also taught Romanian Language at the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Institute (Center) for the Romanians Living Abroad and she has been teaching Romanian for foreigners for 7 years now. Presently she coordinates the Language Courses Program at the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Ilinca Busurcă (born in 1979) graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, specialization Russian Language and Literature - Romanian Language and Literature. She graduated the Master on Russian Cultural Studies and Business Communication and the second Master "Culture and Mentality in the European Integration of Romanians". Currently she works at the Department for Students' Services from the University of Bucharest. Ilinca taught Romanian Language at the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Institute (Center) for the Romanians Living Abroad. She has a qualification as a trainer and she has a 7 years experience in teaching Romanian language for foreigners. In January 2011 (25-29) she took up, as her colleague Ana, a specialized course in teaching Romanian as a foreign language, organized by the Institute for the Romanian Language as a European Language and the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.
Gabriela Stoica (born in 1979) graduated from the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest, Romanian Language and Literature and Latin Language and Literature and the Master on "The structure and the evolution of Romanian language". She holds a Ph.D. in Philology (linguistics field, history of Romanian language/ historical semantics). She is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest, department of Linguistics, where she has 9 years experience in teaching Romanian as a foreign language. She also works as a researcher at the "Iorgu Iordan – Al. Rosetti" Institute of Linguistics of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, department of Romance Linguistics.
Ioana Vasiloiu (born in 1979) is a graduate of the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest as of 2002, being specialized in Romanian Language and Literature – French Language and Literature. She also holds an MA in Modern Romanian Literature (as of 2003) and an MA in Cultural Anthropology (as of 2004). As of 2008 she holds a PhD in Philology at the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest. Between 2004-2008 Ioana taught Romanian Language for foreigners at the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Institute (Center) for the Romanians living abroad. As of 2008 she has taught Romanian as a foreign language for the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest, and as her colleagues, Ana and Ilinca, Ioana took up in January 2011 (25-29) a specialized course in teaching Romanian as a foreign language, organized by the Institute for the Romanian Language as a European Language and the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.
Carmen Mîrzea Vasile (born in 1982) is a Romanian language researcher at the "Iorgu Iordan ¬– Al. Rosetti" Institute of Linguistics and she teaches Romanian as a foreing language as of 2009, becoming a permanent collaborator of the Romanian Language Classes Programme organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute. Carmen graduated from the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest, Romanian Language and Literature and French Language and Literature, graduated the Master on "Contemporary Romanian language: structures and communication strategies", holding a PhD in Philology as of 2010. As her colleagues, she took up a specialized course in teaching Romanian as a foreign language, organized by the Institute for the Romanian Language as a European Language and the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca in July 2010 (12-16). Currently, she benefits from a Postdoctoral Scholarship (2011-2013), granted by the Romanian Academy.
