RCINY has been frequently asked, by Romanians and Americans alike, where to find new releases by Romanian authors, musicians and filmmakers, or books related to the Romanian presence in the world. Started in 2000 as a little bookshop in the center of Bucharest, Carturesti has rapidly grown from one of the most celebrated Romanian enterprises into a cultural brand all its own ─ thus being the natural partner for this endeavour.
On December 3, in the frame of the Carturesti book exhibition in preview at RCINY Gallery, architect Serban Sturdza (conceptor of the Carturesti spatial design), art historian Mirela Duculescu and Valentin Salageanu (Carturesti marketing coordinator) will tell the story of how the unique Carturesti bookstore came to life; of the development of a concept and environment that bring books and reading "back to cool". The presentation The Architecture of Reading will be followed by a dialogue with the Romanian-American audience moderated by Corina Suteu, director of RCINY, focusing on the potential of developing a Carturesti Bookstore in New York.
The event continues on December 7, 11am-3pm in the Romanian Gallery, as well as at Tribeca Cinemas during the Romanian Film Festival, December 5-7.
