International Holocaust Remembrance Day: "My Illusions" - film screening and online discussion about the Bucharest Pogrom

The Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) in Tel Aviv organizes the online screening of the documentary "My Illusions", in collaboration with the platform ”The Future of Memory”, founded by Olga Stefan. At the end of the screening, there will be an online discussion, moderated by Martin Salamon, director of ICR Tel Aviv, with the participation of the film's director, Olga Ștefan.

The event intends to mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, as well as 80 years since the Pogrom of Bucharest, which took place between January 21st-23rd, 1941.

The film presents the personal stories of the residents of the Moses Rosen Retirement Home in Bucharest, taking us through the Jewish quarter, in the areas where scenes of antisemitic violence took place during the 1941 pogrom, at the houses of the film’s subjects, and in front of the buildings that played an important role in the life of the Jewish community. Furthermore, we learn about the conditions in which the Jews of Bucharest lived during the war, about the impact of racial laws on the situation and daily life of Jews, and the post-war Jewish identity.
