"Strings Through Time: George Enescu and Contemporary Composers – Extraordinary Romania National Day Violin and Piano Concert."

The National Day of Romania was celebrated in Beijing through an extraordinary concert featuring the exceptional performance of violinist Alexandru Tomescu and pianist Sinziana Mircea. The concert, titled "Strings Through Time: George Enescu and Contemporary Composers– Extraordinary Romania National Day Violin and Piano Concert" took place on Thursday, December 7th, at 7:30 PM, at the grand Silk Road International Arts Center – Diamond Concert Hall, one of the largest concert halls in China.

The event was attended by numerous guests, including personalities from the cultural world, ambassadors, and representatives of the diplomatic corps, journalists, members of EUNIC clusters, distinguished figures from the Romanian community, and the wonderful audience in China.

The program was a rich kaleidoscope of mastery, including significant works from the Romanian musical heritage, such as "Balada pentru pian și vioară" (Ballad for Piano and Violin), "Lăutarul," and "Hora Unirii" by George Enescu, as well as "Dans Țărănesc" by Constantin Dimitrescu. The concert also highlighted valuable compositions from contemporary composers, including Jules Massenet's "Meditation from Thais," Fritz Kreisler's "Schon Rosmarin" and "Caprice Viennois," Niccolo Paganini's "Centone di sonate, Op. 64, MS 112," and, finally, Saint-Saens' "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso Op. 28." Sinziana Mircea performed her composition "Time Reflection" to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian composer Theodor Rogalski, who inspired her recent musical creations.

Impressed by the talent and performance of the Romanian musicians, the audience applauded for minutes on end. Alexandru Tomescu and Sinziana Mircea returned to the stage to perform Ciprian Porumbescu's "Balada." For over an hour in the Diamond Concert Hall, the National Day of Romania was celebrated grandiosely.

Thanks to the two exceptional artists and the audience for an absolutely memorable evening. 

The concert was organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) Beijing, with the support of the Embassy of Romania in Beijing and the Silk Road International Arts Center in Beijing.

Alexandru Tomescu is a world-renowned Romanian violinist, a laureate of numerous national and international awards. With an impressive career, performing on famous stages such as Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Metropolitan Arts Centre in Tokyo, he has collaborated with some of the greatest conductors, including Valery Gergiev and Kurt Masur. In 2003, together with talented musicians Horia Mihail and Răzvan Suma, he initiated the "Romanian Piano Trio," a notable presence in the chamber music landscape. A highlight in his career was the privilege of playing the famous Stradivarius Elder-Voicu violin from 1702, considered a true treasure among Stradivarius instruments.

Sinziana Mircea is a talented Romanian pianist known for her international career in Europe, North America, and Asia. Her debut took place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Japan and St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London. At the age of 24, she debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2017, she was recognized as a Young Steinway Artist, marking her as one of the most promising international talents. Her recordings, broadcast on major European radio stations, have contributed to her recognition in the musical world. Currently, Sinziana Mircea shares her passion and experience as a professor at the "Luigi Canepa" Conservatory in Sassari, Italy, with three released CDs, including "Nihil Sine Deo," which won third place in the national competition for the best classical music CD in Romania in 2016.

The Silk Road International Arts Center is one of the largest performing arts centers in northern China and a significant cultural complex in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The main building of the center covers an area of 270,000 square meters and includes four large theaters, a music hall, 14 art exhibition halls, and multifunctional artistic spaces, designed by the renowned Japanese architect Yoshinori Chidori, inspired by "moving clouds." This center is dedicated to international cultural exchanges, serving as a creative complex for artists that brings together the museum and performing arts center with the art museum in a unique way.
