Romania participates at the Francophonie Celebration in Israel, March 4-18, 2016

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv and the Embassy of Romania to the State of Israel invite you to the series of events dedicated to celebrating the Francophonie Day, which will take place between March 4-18, 2016, in important cultural centres in Tel Aviv, Holon, Haifa and Nazareth.    

Together with Romania, embassies and cultural institutes from Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, France, Greece, Switzerland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Congo Republic and Cameroon will participate at this year's edition of the celebrations.

The program of events includes:

Debates and discussions at the Forum of Francophone Studies - March 4th, between 10:00-13:00, at the French Institute in Tel Aviv

The Francophonie Film Week at the Holon Cinematheque, March 13th -17th

During the program, Romanian will be represented by the film "Why me?", director: Tudor Giurgiu, that will be screened on March 16th, at 18:00, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.

The Francophonie Celebration, March 18th, between 11:00-15:00, at the Felicja Blumental Music Center in Tel Aviv

During the event, there will be set up stands with brochures and materials containing information about the culture, history and tourism of the participating countries, as well as a buffet with traditional food products. The Romanian stand is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Romania to the State of Israel.

The entrance to the stand area is free.

In the concert hall of the Felicja Blumental Music Center there will take place an artistic program, as follows:

at 11:00 - Slam recital performed by the Swiss artist Pablo Michellod

at 12:00 - Fragments from the play "The 7 deadly sins",  performed by the Les Presque theatre company

at 12:30- Concert of the French singer Orly Salomon

at 13:15 - The Congolese Orchestra Bilaka in concert

The International Day of the Francophonie has been celebrated worldwide each year on March 20, since 1998. The French Embassy and the French Institute, in collaboration with institutions of the various francophone states, are organizing a series of cultural events in Israel, under the title "The Days of the Francophonie".

This year, joining France (the French Institute in Israel and the French Embassy) in the celebrations are: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Greece, Switzerland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Ivory Coast, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Romania.
