Farewell to HE Ambassador Coen Stork (Bussum, 28 March 1928 – Amsterdam, 23 October 2017)

1989 remains a milestone of dramatic change, the year when the lives of millions of people in Europe changed and freedom was given the chance to flourish.

Appointed Ambassador to Romania, Coen Stork has been a leading personality directly and actively involved in the 1989’s dramatic events and a witness of Romanian history in its making. His direct involvement and ongoing support to the Romanian dissidents during that time was internationally recognized and turned him into one of the emblematic figures whose diplomatic efforts to help the citizens of Romania are sealed in our collective memory.

Romanian Cultural Institute Brussels pays a humble tribute to HE Ambassador Coen Stork and expresses its most sincere condolences to the inconsolable family.

Romanian Cultural institute Brussels brings back the vivid memories of a rewarding international conference we organized at the University of Amsterdam in December 2014 alongside the Romanian Embassy to the Kingdom of The Netherlands to mark the 25 years after the Romanian Revolution. HE Ambassador Coen Stork has brought an immense contribution to that event, his expertise and vast experience in foreign affairs and international politics contributed to the success of the event.

It is time to say FAREWELL to Ambassador Coen Stork, and to once more thank him for his indefatigable support and genuine admiration for our country!
