Romanian Participation in the Architecture Week International Festival, Prague

The 9th edition of the International Architecture and Urban Planning Festival in Prague Architecture Week will take place between 17 August – 18 October 2015 in the breathtaking premises of the St. George Basilica, Prague Castle. This extraordinary event of the Architecture world is held under the High Patronage of Mr. Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic.
This year’s edition theme focuses on the transformation and improvement of the public space through relations created between people and the place they live in, and through the feeling of belonging to a certain place, which leads to the forming of a local community.

The Romanian participation is represented in the Contemporary Architecture Section having chosen a general theme Places - the context in architecture and consists of a model of the project La Curte (Courtyard), by architects Cristina Trofin and Andreas Oliver Heierle, awarded the Architecture Section, Residences Category, at the 11th edition of the Bucharest Architecture Annual 2013. Consequently, on 1 October 2015, architect Andreas Oliver Heierle will present the project during the Architects‘ Meeting (representatives from all the participating countries) on the occasion of the Official Opening of the International Architecture and Urban Planning Festival, Prague Castle, Spanish Hall, 7:00 p.m..

As a part of the Architecture Week festival,the Playful Architect exhibition will take place at the Rosenberg Palace, where the Romanian participation will feature 6 works of the 4th grade pupils at the Grigore Moisil Highschool, Timişoara.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague believes that participating in the Architecture Week is an opportunity to promote the Romanian architecture within the Czech cultural space as well as within the international context offered by the festival.
