His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales opened, along with His Excellency Dan Mihalache, Romania’s Ambassador in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the photo exhibition “Apertures of a Revolution”, organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London in partnership with the Embassy of Romania and the National News Agency AGERPRES. The exhibition visually tells the story of the Romanian Revolution, using photos taken 30 years ago in Timisoara and Bucharest.
The Ambassador Dan Mihalache thanked the Prince of Wales for the high honour of celebrating together with the Romanian people the exceptional moments of courage, in the pursuit of freedom, of December 1989.
On this occasion, Mrs Magda Stroe, acting director of RCI London, introduced to the Prince of Wales the artists who are visiting British schools as part of the educational project “Legacies of Courage”, dedicated to the Romanian Revolution. Photographer Sorin Lupșa, members of the Romanian community in London and British partners of the RCI and Embassy of Romania were also invited to the event.
After the visit, Ambassador Dan Mihalache and Mrs Claudia Nicolae, general director of AGERPRES, offered HRH the Prince of Wales a photograph included in the exhibition, depicting participants in the revolution holding a sign which read „Our children will be free”.
The event continued with the screening of the documentary “After the Revolution”, witness of the Romanian society in the aftermath of the fall of the communist regime, which was followed by a Q&A session with director Laurențiu Calciu and producer Rupert Wolfe Murray.
