Romanian jazz pianist Ion Baciu Jr  at the International Jaffa Jazz Festival, Mandel Cultural Center, 15-17092016

With the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, jazz pianist Ion Baciu Jr. will participate in the musical program of the International Jaffa Jazz Festival, organized at the Mandel Cultural Center between September 15-17, 2016.

Together with the Romanian musician, there will perform over 43 Israeli and 8 international artists, such as Mike Nielsen - guitar (Ireland), Jean Marc Jafet- bass (France), Carme Canela - voice (Spain) and Bela Szaloky - trombone (Hungary).

The festival program, which will take place at the Mandel Cultural Center in Yaffo (1 Hatkuma St.), is dedicated to some of the most prestigious and important names of international jazz and will be comprised of musical works composed and previously performed by them.

The 2nd edition of the International Jaffa Jazz Festival will take place on the 15-17th of September 2016 with the participation of renowned jazz musicians from Romania, France, Serbia, Austria, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Ireland, Belgium and the US together with around 43 Israeli leading jazz musicians who will create special tributes to the legendary jazz composers Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Cole Porter, Horace Silver, Jaco Pastorius, Hoagy Carmichael, Rogers & Heart and Thelonious Monk.  

Young jazz students from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (Belgium) will join Israeli students from Rimon School of Music and the Israel Conservatory in Tel Aviv as well as from Multikultivator Serbia to create a special tribute to the great jazz composer/saxophonist Wayne Shorter which will be guided by one of the festival artists. The 18 piece Tel Aviv Jazz Orchestra conducted by Amikam Kimelman will host the 8 festival artists from overseas in 'Jazz makes Friends',  a special concert which will symbolize and empha the spirit of jazz to connect people from all over the world.

During the festival, 8 renowned jazz photographers will present their works in a Jazz Photography Exhibition which will welcome the festival's guests.
