The Paper Will Be Blue @ Romanian Cinematheque

Romania | 2006 | col | 92min | dir. Radu Muntean | with: Paul Ipate, Adi Carauleanu, Andi Vasluianu and Dragos Bucur In Romanian with English subtitles.

Costi, a conscript who managed to do his military service in Bucharest thanks to his well-connected father, believes that it is his duty, after so many years of dictatorship, to fight Ceausescu's supporters, irrespective of the orders of his superiors. His arrogance and stubbornness bring him into conflict with Lieutenant Neagu, and taking advantage of a dispute with group of protesters he goes AWOL. Despite Neagu's threats, Costi heads to the TV station to fight for the revolution. It's a night of madness in which soldiers receive orders via television from poets and actors, radios transmit garbled signals, guns are distributed to civilians and gipsies are arrested as Arab terrorists.
