Stockholm 22 October 2007: 16 National Institutes for Culture and EU-member embassies in Stockholm have today founded a Swedish network of European organisations working in the field of cultural relations.

EUNIC Stockholm is a national member organisation of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in Brussels, a partnership of national institutions for culture, engaged beyond their national borders and operating with a degree of autonomy from their governments (see www.eunic-europe.eu).

There are 23 member states of the EU in EUNIC.

EUNIC operates through its headquarters organisations but also through its national networks. These national networks are clusters of the member organisations described above, based in cities across Europe.

The aim of the Stockholm EUNIC network will be to create effective partnerships and networks in order to improve and promote cultural diversity and understanding between European societies and to strengthen international dialogue and cultural cooperation with countries outside Europe.

The Stockholm cluster will work as a communication platform and as promoter and organiser of common cultural events of all kinds.
