The Romanian Cultural Institute in London and the Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University of Timișoara cordially invite you to the Private View of "Chasing Light", a grand-scale exhibition reuniting over 30 drawings, paintings, sculptures, design objects, photographs, comics, and video artworks. The exhibition, curated by internationally acclaimed artists Mihai Zgondoiu andBogdan Rață, is a true visual exploration of the idea of light as a symbol of knowledge, inner search, clarity, and artistic expression and features works by Aura Bălănescu, Dinu Bodiciu, Mimi Ciora, Ciprian Ciuclea, Victor Drujiniu, Bogdan Matei, Andreea Medar, Antonio Meze, Laurian Popa, Mircea Popescu, Bogdan Rață, Cristian Sida, Miki Velciov, Victor Vulpe, and Mihai Zgondoiu, alumni of the Faculty of Arts and Design. Each work presented in the exhibition reflects a unique vision, showcasing the diverse and original directions followed by graduates of this art school.
The exhibition celebrates 35 years since the establishment of the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara and we are pleased to open it on 9 September at 7 PM, in the presence of Dean Diana Andreescu and the two curators, who will lead an inspiring artist talk on this occasion. The exhibition will be open at the "Constantin Brâncuși" Gallery from Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, until 10 October.
In addition to the selection of works displayed in the Brâncuși Gallery space, the exhibition will also feature panels mounted on the exterior of 1 Belgrave Square, providing greater visibility of the project and attracting a wider audience.
This exhibition is featured in the official programme of Open House London – a major festival that draws hundreds of visitors each year to the Institute’s majestic headquarters.
The Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara is an academic centre of excellence that has, over time, educated numerous artists who have become key figures in contemporary Romanian and European art. This project aims to highlight the significant contribution of this faculty to the development and promotion of new generations of visual artists in Romania.
