On the occasion of celebrating the European Day of Languages, ICR Beijing participated in the book exhibition "Voices of Europe: A Linguistic Journey," organized on September 26 at the Miguel de Cervantes Library in Shanghai, in partnership with the Cervantes Institute and the Consulate General of Romania in Shanghai.
The exhibition aimed to showcase literary works in various European languages, including regional languages, to honor Europe's linguistic diversity and cultural richness.
ICR Beijing presented five significant Romanian literary works in both Chinese and English:
- Ion Creangă - "Stories, Memories, Tales," 1989, Cartea Românească
- Marin Preda - "The Most Beloved of Earthlings," 1980, Cartea Românească
- Nicolae Steinhardt - "The Happiness Diary," 1991, Polirom, Rohia Monastery
- Liviu Rebreanu - "Forest of the Hanged," 1992, Editura Litera
- Mihai Eminescu - "Poems" (Romanian-English Bilingual Edition), 1978, Minerva Publishing House
Each EU member country selected five book titles in their official and regional languages. For ICR Beijing, this project represented an opportunity to highlight the literary contributions of Romanian authors and share the linguistic heritage with the Chinese and international public. The exhibition was open to the public from September 16 to 30 and attracted over 1,000 visitors in total.
The event promotion was carried out on the online platforms of ICR/ICR Beijing, and the partners from the Cervantes Institute in Shanghai, as well as on local and international social media:
