Reading Europe: Books and Publications from the European Union – 2nd edition

On September 27, 2025, in the context of the celebration of the European Day of Languages, the EUNIC China Cluster organized at the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing the second edition of the book fair Reading Europe: Books and Publications from the European Union. The event brought together cultural institutes and European representations in China, offering the public a diverse literary journey that highlighted Europe’s linguistic richness and cultural heritage.

Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, visitors – numbering over 300 participants – had the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide range of European literary works, browse recent publications, and receive books as gifts. Alongside ICR Beijing, participants included cultural institutes and centers from Romania, Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Hungary, as well as the Delegation of the European Union to China.

ICR Beijing’s contribution consisted of presenting, in Chinese and English, a selection of representative Romanian titles – fiction and non-fiction, history, tourism, music, children’s literature, and educational materials – drawn largely from the collection showcased at the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) 2025.
