Marie-Jeanne Măi-Antal is a musician and instrumentalist (viola) of the National Radio Orchestra in Bucharest, currently residing in Shanghai. Her collection of Romanian traditional blouses and costumes includes over 90 pieces, gathered over the past 10 years and exhibited on various occasions in Bucharest, Brussels (BE), Mons (BE), Ronchin (FR), Valenciennes (FR), London (UK), Kiev (UA), and Shanghai (CN). Part of her collection is located in China and has already been presented in Shanghai during the diplomatic reception organized for Romania's National Day on December 1, 2022, when the Romanian blouse with altiță was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Through the exhibition of the collection of Romanian traditional blouses and costumes, we wanted to mark the first year since the inclusion of the Romanian blouse with altiță in the UNESCO World Heritage List, a milestone that recognizes the Romanian traditional shirt, the "ie," as a universal value of humanity. Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse is celebrated in over 50 countries on six continents, becoming part of the annual program of museums and cultural institutions both in Romania and abroad. It is commemorated by diplomatic missions as well as Romanian cultural institutes abroad.
