Call for applications for scholarships for foreign cultural journalists to be held in 2024

The Romanian Cultural Institute is launching a call for applications to offer three scholarships forforeign cultural journalists in 2024. We invite interested journalists to submit their application files untill 09.05.2024, 16:00, Romanian time at the email adress burse@icr.ro.

The research and documentary scholarships for foreign cultural journalists consist in the financial support of a one-month documentation period in Romania to carry out projects aimed at promoting the Romanian cultural phenomenon in the foreign press. Thus, RCI grants scholarships to foreign journalists who propose working projects reflecting different aspects of Romanian culture. The number of scholarships awarded annually consists of 3 (three) scholarships, distributed, depending on the period agreed with the winning nominated journalists, for a period chosen by the end of the calendar year.

They will carry out their documentary period during a month spent in the areas covered by their topic.

Number of annually granted scholarships: 3 (three)

Duration of scholarships: one month, between June, 20^th – Novemberr, 30 ^th.

Areas for which evaluation and selection are organized: cultural journalism / documentary film-photo reportage

Deadline for submission of files: 09.05.2024, 16:00, Romanian time.

Granted amounts: 2.500 euro/scholarship

Documents required for enrolment (the scholarship application file):

a. enrolment form;

b. CV;

c. copy of the ID document/passport;

d. description of the research project, which will consist of three pages minimum – taking into account the steps that the research will follow, the spaces which the candidate envisages, the need to carry out this research in Romania;

e. a portfolio containing articles/recordings of shows;

f. documentary films, recordings of interviews, audio broadcasts - to be submitted via transfer links;

g. 15 photographs, together with photo albums, demonstrating the candidate's interest in this field - to be sent via transfer links;

h. a letter of recommendation from the management of the paper / radio station/ TV / association where the applicant is active or was active;

i. intent letter (in a language of international circulation)

j. affidavit stating that all the documents sent are in accordance with the original.

The documentation will be drafted in English.

Publication of the announcement – April 8, 2024;

Submission of files – May 9, 2024, 4:00 p.m., Romanian time;

Display of results – 27 May 2024;

Submission of appeals – 28 – 30 May 2024, 04.00 pm - Romanian time;

Resolution of appeals – June 17, 2024;

Display of final results – 18 June 2024;

Signing of contracts: June 20 – October 31, 2024.
