The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, The Israeli Opera and Rose Music Library in Jerusalem are organizing a month-long program of canto lessons and opera recitals for a young Romanian opera singer, in Israel. During his stay in Israel, Bogdan Zaharia (born 1979) will perform three opera recitals, together with other Romanian and Israeli opera singers.
Bogdan Zaharia studied at the "George Enescu" Academy in Iasi with Prof. Corneliu Solovastru, where he obtained a diploma. He has attended numerous masterclasses and was awarded a scholarship from the CEE Musiktheater in Vienna. Since 2009 he has performed as a vocal soloist at the National Romanian Opera in Timisoara where he has performed lead roles in operas by Bizet (2 different roles), Leoncavallo (2 different roles), Mascagni, J. Strauss, Puccini and Verdi. He has participated in operatic tours throughout Europe and in Morocco. He has perfomed in Israel the role "Le Dancaire" in opera Carmen, staged by the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in October 2011.
