Between October 25 and November 25, 2012, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv is showing the exhibition of documentary photography “Harry Stern and Architectural Modernism in Bucharest”.
Promoter of the Romanian Modernism, arch. Harry Stern was active in Bucharest in the Interbelic period and until 1950. Between 1941 and 1944 he coordinated the Architecture Department of the Jewish College in Bucharest.
The exhibition comprises photographies made in Bucharest by arch. Simona Or Munteanu, as part of a research project in cooperation with the Technion Institute in Haifa, under the supervision of prof. Iris Aravot.
These photos, as well as a series of studies, were exhibited in July this year at Peka Gallery within Technion. Also, the results of her research were presented during the international conference „Harry Stern and Architectural Modernism in Bucharest”, organized at Technion I.I.T. The exhibition is open to the public Monday to Thursday, 10:00 – 15:00 hrs., at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, 8 Shaul Hamelech Blvd., 6th Floor.
