Eternal Symbols: Brâncuși in Photographic Retrospective

On the anniversary of the Romanian famous sculptor, Constantin Brâncuși, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing has the pleasure to invite you to a special photo exhibition entitled “Eternal Symbols: Brâncuși in Photographic Retrospective”, which will be open from February 19th to March 19th 2024, at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Galaxy Soho, Beijing. This event aims to introduce the Chinese public to the main artworks of the great sculptor, Constantin Brâncuși, showcased in the world's most prestigious museums.

Featured masterpieces include:

  • "Măiastra" and "Domnișoara Pogany," "Portrait of a Young Woman," "Socrates," "The Cock" (1922), "Bird in Space," etc., from MoMA New York,
  • "Sleeping Muse" (1910) from the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
  • "Mademoiselle Pogany I" (1913), "The Kiss" (1916), "Bird in the Air" (1923) from Philadelphia Museum of Art,
  • "Fish" (1) (1922) from Tate Modern Collection,
  • "Blonde Negress I" (1926) from Toledo Museum of Art,
  • "White Negress II" (1928), "Blonde Negress II" (1933) from Art Institute of Chicago,
  • Works from Constantin Brâncuși's workshop at Centre Pompidou,
  • "The Infinite Column," "The Table of Silence," "The Gate of the Kiss" (1935) from Târgu Jiu, "The Prayer" and "The Wisdom of the Earth" from the National Museum of Art of Romania, among others.

The exhibition is a collaborative effort with the Union of Architects of Romania (UAR).

Also, during the exhibition period, visitors will have the opportunity to watch the film "Tribute to Brâncuși on the Heroes' Path", a cinematic poem signed by the artist Sergiu Cioiu, from a multifaceted perspective, as director, performer, screenwriter, narrator, to the music and lyrics of Alexandru Mandy.
