Violin and piano concert: Andrei Gocan & Petr Limonov

      

The Romanian Cultural Institute in London invites you to a new episode of the "Young Romanian musicians in London" series of concerts.

The series started in 2002 and concerts were held at St Martin-in-the-Fields, organised with the support of the Cultural Section - Romanian Embassy in London. The series promotes the outstanding musical abilities of young Romanian artists who are either students or graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and other famous music institutions.

The concert is given by Romanian violinist Andrei Gocan and his colleague, the Russian pianist Petr Limonov.

Romanian violinist Andrei Gocan is the 2nd Prize winner of the 2001 "Jeunesses Musicales" International violin competition. In 2003, he was also a semi-finalist of the "Wieniawski International Violin Competition" in Poland, and in 2004 he was one of the few contestants selected to take part in the "Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition" in London. He is currently a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he has been offered a scholarship to study with Romanian violin professor Remus Azoitei.

First-prize winner of the Nikolai Rubinstein International Competition in Paris, Russian pianist Petr Limonov began studying the piano in 1991, when he entered the prestigious Central Music School in Moscow. He studied with Siyavoush Gadjiev and later Andrei Pisarev. Having graduated with the highest marks, he came to London in 2003 and became a student of the Royal Academy of Music. He has recently played in Romania and France.
