”Pages of history” - Synagogues of Timișoara

Following the success of the previous episodes of the series "Pages of history", the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv continues this new series of online events, dedicated to synagogues in Romania, as well as  to the Jewish cultural and architectural heritage in Romania, organized in collaboration with the Jewish Community Center (JCC).

The collaboration between the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, on the one hand, and the Jewish Community Center (JCC), on the other, facilitates the presentation - via live Zoom conferences, respectively video footage filmed on the spot - of several synagogues from Romania and the specific details of the Jewish communities they serve.

The last event in this series was be dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage of the Jewish community in Timișoara, one of the largest communities in Romania today. During the event, unique images with the Jewish cult monuments in the city will be presented. 

The event will take place on Monday, April 12th, 2021, at 18:00 hours, via live streaming on the official Facebook page of ICR Tel Aviv - https: //www.facebook.com/icr.telaviv/.

Held in English and English, moderated by Martin Salamon, director of RCI Tel Aviv , the event will include the following guests:

- Luciana Friedmann, President of the Jewish Community of Timișoara, who will talk about aspects of Jewish community life;

- Ronald Wagmann, member of the steering committee of the Jewish community in Timișoara and responsible for heritage;

- Gabriel Székely, architect and teacher, who will present a material about three synagogues in Timișoara (Iosefin, Fabric, Cetate) from an architectural and structural point of view.

At the end of the program, there will be a short religious moment broadcast live from the Josephine Synagogue.
