Art Fridays: Studio Conversations with Obie Platon

Our next guest in the "Studio Conversations' series, Obie Platon, is a street artist based in Bucharest who has carved a well-known reputation for himself in the street art world under the pseudonym Allan Dalla (a play on words which roughy translates as Helter-Skelter). He is a founding member of the URBANART Association, an organization focused on the regeneration through art of underdeveloped urban areas, which numbers many international projects in its portfolio.

Obie Platon (b.1987) studied Architecture and his highly complex murals range from abstract painting to graffiti, with folkloric elements. His artworks are inspired by the platonic geometry and philosophy, being influenced by Romanian culture, social beliefs, and popular imagery. Using geometric patterns with powerful symbols and meanings, his works are truly amazing oases of color and message in the urban environment.

Obie believes that the most important thing for an artist of the present is to reflect the era in which he lives in order to convey the energy received from those who came before to future generations. For him, the perfect STUDIO is to be found outdoors, in the urban environment, where he can resurrect the existing spaces by endowing them with a new story and new perspectives.
