Discover the full breadth of myths and ornaments, simplicity and beauty of the Romanian Blouse, in a series of events celebrating this object of universal admiration.
On 24 June, the Romanian Cultural Institute in London and the Embassy of Romania in the UK are marking the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse with a programme of events which brings together some of the most passionate contributors to the revival of the outstanding garment.
13:00- The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest presents its collections, in a short film specially made for this occasion. Curator: Silviu Ilea.

16:00 - Live interview with fashion designer Adrian Oianu, whose collections are inspired by the traditional Romanian costume.
Adrian Oianu has over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, over 100 signed collections and over 1 million unique products sold worldwide.

17:30 - Presentation film by Ioana Corduneanu of "Semne cusute" (Sewn Signs) Association comprising 38,000 members determined to rediscover, practise and pass on the rich heritage of the traditional textiles to future generations.

19:00 - Awards Ceremony of the “Britain's Capital of the Romanian Blouse” Photo Contest
We will be joined by HE Dan Mihalache, the Ambassador of Romania to the Court of St James’s, and Andreea Tănăsescu, the founder of “La Blouse Roumaine” Community, who will announce the winner of the best photo, as well as the name of the first capital of the Romanian Blouse in the UK.

Andreea Tănăsescu is the President of La Blouse Roumaine IA Association, an NGO that promotes the preservation of the Romanian textile heritage, cultural and sustainable fashion.
