A tribute to our language

A tribute to our language is a festival organised by the Oxford Romanian Cultural Society celebrating Romanian language through poetry, theatre and music.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in London supports the participation at the festival of two young artists: soprano Gabriela Istoc and pianist Silvan Negrutiu - both scholars at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.

A graduate of the National University of Music in Bucharest, Gabriela Istoc's repertoire covers chamber recitals and leading roles in operas, such as The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart), L'Elisir D'Amore (Donizzeti) or La Boheme (Puccini). She is pursuing her vocal studies with the well-known soprano Veronica Dunne.

Award winning Silvan Negrutiu has given solo and chamber music performances in Europe and the United States. His concerts with the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra and Alicante University Philharmonic Orchestra have received wide media coverage. Negrutiu is currently studying in Dublin with the renewed pianist John O'Connor.

In Oxford the two artists will do a concert of George Enescu, Constantin Silvestri, Paul Constantinescu si Carmen Petra-Basacopol.
