Avec le projet « Enescu Re -Imagined » où il revisitait l'œuvre de son compatriote Georg Enescu, puis en duo aux côtés de Mat Maneri avec « Transylvanian Concert » notamment, le pianiste roumain Lucian Ban s'est par le passé magistralement imposé avec ses arrangements jazz des traditions musicales de son pays d'origine. Il s'installe sur notre scène avec le répertoire de « Songs from Afar », deuxième album de son Elevation Quartet avec qui il combine ses influences européennes et la tradition jazz américain dans un esprit avant-gardiste.
Lucian Ban's reinvestigation of his musical influences and cultural heritage distilled through the masterful contributions of his Elevation Quartet has created a unique and powerful brand of modern jazz. The pianist and composer plays the repertoire of his second album with the quartet, entitled « Songs from Afar ».
