The important Israeli publishing group, Hakibutz Hameuchad - Sifriat Poalim Publishing Group, has recently announced the publishing of the second edition of The Book of Whispers (the first edition being published earlier this year, in June). The book has been translated into Hebrew by Any Shilon and edited by Anita Peri Sela.
The realistic theme that represents the basis of this book is as straighforward and clear-cut as possible.The book is an arresting document both about the Armenian genocide in 1915 and also about the diseases that affected mankind in the past century: world wars and totalitarianism.
The indifference with which world nations had treated the Armenian genocide would soon find itself once again, two decades later, in the tragedy of the Holocaust and, more recently, in the various genocidal actions taking place in Asia and Africa. The Book of Whispers, one of the most successful and awarded books in Romanian present literature, shapes itself into a testimony and an urge towards the acceptance of human dignity.
The publication of this book in Israel was made possible through the Romanian Cultural Institute’s program “Publishing Romania”.
Imposingly characterized by the author as being “the book of those who have suffered history instead of living it”, the book will be launched in October 2012 in Israel, in the presence of the author.
