The Romanian Cultural Institute in London, in partnership with theCity Music Society, is delighted to present a piano recital by Kira Frolu as part of the Young Artists Series. This recital showcases exceptional emerging talent under 30, providing audiences with the opportunity to experience a young musician of remarkable artistry in one of central London’s most historic and prestigious venues.

As part of the 2025–2026 Lunch Concert Season, the performance will take place in the intimate and acoustically rich surroundings of St. Bartholomew the Great, promising an engaging musical experience where technical mastery meets expressive nuance. Through this collaboration, the Institute and the Society continue their shared mission of supporting the next generation of artists and connecting London audiences with the finest emerging talent.

Kira Frolu is recognised as one of the most outstanding pianists of her generation. She trained at Bucharest’s Dinu Lipatti and Gheorghe Lazăr Colleges, continued her studies at the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music, London, and is currently completing postgraduate studies at the Accademia del Ridotto. She has performed extensively across the UK, Romania, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, and Ukraine, appearing in prestigious venues such as the Royal Academy of Music, Sala Radio Bucharest, Banatul Philharmonic Timișoara, and ARCUB Centre, Bucharest. Kira has also participated in masterclasses with Stephen Kovacevich and studied at internationally renowned summer academies, including Imola, Liechtenstein Musik Akademie, and the Oxford Piano Festival. Her accolades include the Sir Laurence Robson Award, the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship, the Countess of Munster Award, and theHelpMusiciansUK Award, alongside international competition prizes. She has collaborated with leading orchestras in the UK and Romania, and in 2022, she was the winner of the “Heirs of Romanian Music” programme, which supports the next generation of Romanian musicians.


Founded in 1943 by Ivan Sutton, in the spirit of Dame Myra Hess’s wartime concerts, the City Music Society has championed both established and emerging talent for over 75 years, presenting over 2,400 recitals in historic London venues. Today, lunchtime concerts take place in the magnificent St Bartholomew the Great, offering superb acoustics and an intimate setting in one of London’s oldest medieval churches, founded in 1123.
