The Romanian Cultural Institute in London supports two concerts of Taraf Transilvan at Exhibition Road Music Day.
Founded by the violinist Ovidiu Bartes in 2005, Taraf Transilvan is an instrumental group that promotes authentic folk music from Romania. Their uniquely expressive sound comes from the use of specific instruments that highlight old interpretation techniques from different Transylvanian villages.
Taraf Transilvan has taken part in major European festivals of world music in Monaco, Madrid, Lyon, Rome, Stockholm, Prague and Luxembourg. Band members are: Ovidiu Bartes, Ionut Istrate, Tudor Cauacean, Zenu Zanc and Isvan Peterfi.
The Exhibition Road Music Day is a unique free festival of live music. Over 70 exhilarating performances by both professional and amateur musicians will bring Exhibition Road alive. It will provide a showcase for the sounds and styles that celebrates the incredible range and diversity of international folklor culture.
