After a series of outstanding performances in 2011, the current Season of the "Enescu Concerts" continues with three internationally-acclaimed musicians and tireless promoters of George Enescu's work Ilian Gârneţ, Claudia Bara and Justus Grimm. Expect a rare display of virtuosity and panache.

A prize-winner of the 2008 Tibor Varga International Competition in Switzerland, the 2009 Queen Elisabeth Competition as well as the 2009 David Oistrach International Competition in Moskow, Ilian Gârneţ is fast establishing as one of the most interesting violinists of our time. His recording consisting of works by Schubert, Ysaye and Brahms for the Fuga Libera Label, together with pianist Alina Bercu has received the Cle d'Or award in France and the Golden Label prize in Belgium. Ilian has appeared in many important festivals around the world, including the Enescu Festival in Bucharest. He has worked with various conductors around Europe, the Middle East as well as the Far East, including Christof Escher, Gilbert Varga, Misha Katz, Jaap van Zweden, Paul Goodwin and Cristian Mandeal.
Romanian pianist Claudia Bara started playing the piano at the age of five, and only three years later gave her first recital with works by Mozart, Grieg and Shostakovich. A 1st prize winner of the W.A. Mozart Festival in Romania, she makes her concerto debut at the age of fourteen at the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest, performing Mozart's D minor concerto KV 466. She studied at the National MusicUniversity in Bucharest with Sandu Sandrin and Dana Borsan, and subsequently at the Brussels Royal Conservatoire with Piet Kuijken. Claudia is regularly invited as an official pianist of the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest.
Justus Grimm is currently the first solo cellist of the Royal Opera in Brussels. He has been a featured soloist of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he made his debut in 1993, the Kasse Orchestra and the Bonn Philharmonic, also appearing in various radio and television productions. He has recorded a CD of cello works by Brahms, Beethoven and Shostakovich for the Ars Musici label.
The concert is part of the Enescu Concerts Series, jointly organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London and the Enescu Society, established in 2007 under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Margarita of Romania. The concerts take place in the Institute's chamber music hall every first Thursday of each month from October to June (July). The Series has attracted a wide array of outstanding musicians and ensembles who have managed to give some of the most memorable Enescu performances ever. Since 2008, the Romanian Cultural Institute awards every year the Enescu Scholarship to outstanding students at the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
