PRO MEMORIA. Art exhibition by Marilena Murariu, at the Leiber Gallery – Bar Ilan University. 29 April – 20 October 2014

Between the 29th of April and the 20th of October 2014, the Leiber Gallery – Bar Ilan University is hosting the exhibition “PRO MEMORIA”, showing artworks by Marilena Murariu. The event is organized in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
The artworks are interpretations of the images depicted on Jewish tombstones from North Moldavia and of the naive Judaica from Romania. The present exhibition represents a continuation of the “Pro Memoria” project, showcasing recent works on this subject by Marilena Murariu. Some of the works exhibited have previously been presented in Israel, at the Romanian Cultural Institute and at the Bible Museum in Tel Aviv.
„The special meaning of the exhibition PRO MEMORIA transcends the personal artistic gesture and becomes a gesture of cultural solidarity with the Jewish people, struck, in the 20th Century, by so many tragedies.” (Marilena Murariu)
The exhibition is open to the public Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 – 15:00 hrs., at the Leiber Gallery – Bar Ilan University, building 410.
