MoMA's "Documentary Fortnight" presents "The Flower Bridge" by Thomas Ciulei

FRI-SAT, February 13-14, 6 pm | Museum of Modern Art, NYC
Following its raving festivals success in 2008, The Flower Bridge
(Podul de flori), directed by Thomas Ciulei, will be presented, among the 35 documentaries from across the globe, in the 2009 edition of the prestigious Documentary Fortnight, the Musem of Modern Art (MoMA)'s annual showcase of nonfiction film and video.
With RCINY support, director Thomas Ciulei
will present the film to American audiences on the occasion of its screenings on FRI, February 13, 6 pm & SAT, February 14, 6 pm.
The film depicts a large-scale social phenomenon-massive economic migration that leaves deep scars in the structure of the family-that affects half of the population of the Republic of Moldova. Costica raises his three children in the village of Acui, Moldova, without his wife, who left for Italy over three years ago to find work and has not been home since.

In Romanian; English subtitles. 87 min.

Thomas Ciulei was recently presented in New York as part of the 3rd Romanian Film Festival in NYC with his 2001 production Europolis
