From September 21st until October 2nd, 2010, the 16th International Haifa Cartoon Festival will take place, the only event of its kind in Israel. Under the title "A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body", the Festival displays works of cartoonists from around the world. The exhibition is open to the public during the whole Festival, at Haifa Auditorium (138 Hanassi Ave., Carmel Center), daily between 12.00 and 22.00 hrs. This year, Mr. Cristian Topan, the President of the Romanian Cartoonists Association will be a member of the jury. His participation in the Festival is possible with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
The Prize Award Ceremony is scheduled for the 27th of September, 18.00 hrs., in the presence of Mr. Yona Yahav, Mayor of Haifa.
In addition to the Festival, between the 16th and 30th of September, 2010, Castra Gallery (8 Fileman Road, Haifa) will present a selection of cartoons from Israel, Romania and the Czech Republic. This special event was initiated by the Haifa Municipality and Castra Art Center in cooperation with the Pencom - Cartoonists' Association and the I.C.U. Association. Within this exhibition, a special event will take place on the 28th of September, at 17.30: the artists Cristian Topan (Romania) and Jiri Silva (the Czech Republic) will demonstrate the process of their work drawing cartoons on easles.
Almost simultaneously, the International Film Festival is taking place in Haifa, where the Romanian Cultural Institute is also a partner.
