The Romanian Cultural Institute, through its Beijing office, in partnership with the National Book Centre, is organizing Romania’s participation in the 31st edition of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), to be held from June 18 to 22, 2025, at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC), located at No. 7 Tianchen East Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
Participating in BIBF, Asia’s most important book fair and one of the largest publishing events in the world, provides Romania with a strategic platform to promote Romanian written culture and strengthen cultural ties with Asia. Over its three decades of existence, BIBF has established itself as a reference forum for negotiating copyright, importing and exporting publications, and promoting editorial products in a professionally recognized international setting. The event benefits from extensive media coverage in specialized press as well as Chinese and international general and audiovisual media.
Romania’s presence at BIBF has a significant history: its first participation was in 2015, coinciding with the official opening of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing and the inauguration of the ICR Library. Along with the Romanian-language collection at the Library of the Beijing Foreign Studies University, this library forms a fundamental pillar in promoting Romanian culture to the Chinese public. The year 2019 marked a defining moment when Romania was the “guest of honor country,” with an extended programme of literary events and strengthened editorial partnerships.
At the 2025 edition, the exhibition will include over 200 volumes of literature, history, science, and art from Romanian publishers, including the ICR Publishing House.
