Electra. Performances of the "Radu Stanca" Theatre from Sibiu. At Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv. 29-30.08.2010
Sunday, 29 August 2010 20:30 - Monday, 30 August 2010
Upon the invitation of the Cameri Municipal Theatre in Tel Aviv and with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, "Electra", theatre show of the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre in Sibiu will be presented to the Israeli audience on August 29 and 30, starting 20:30
Mihai Maniutiu’s “Electra”, adapted from Sophocles and Euripides, is a demonstration of the eternal tragedy, eternally present and willing to take shape today, but perpetually conserving the essence of its implacable destiny. The original encounter between texts of the great Greek tragedy – foundation of the great European cultural myths – and Maramures folk music, interpreted live by the Iza Group, creates an extraordinary mythology, producing a space for archaic confluences. Electra was first presented at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival and was awarded the prizes for best actress in a leading role, best dramaturgy and montage at Festival de Teatro Clasico (Merida, Spain), in 2008.
Direction: Mihai Maniutiu
