VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT

The Visual Arts Department  will carry out its activity according to the proposed targets:
• the openness towards worldwide cultures;
• the broadcast of the Romanian visual arts on international frequencies;
• the dialogue and cooperation between personalities, cultural and scientific communities from Romania and European as well as North/ South American partners.

For meeting these targets, the Visual Arts Department will keep up the partnerships with public and private institutions that aim at supporting the culture generally and, in particular, the Romanian culture.

We intend to initiate new partnerships with institutions, which showed the interest and availability to cooperate with the Romanian Cultural Institute, such as the University of Fine Arts, various art galleries in Romania and abroad, as well as fine arts, film, and theater festivals. These partnerships aim at carrying on programs on a regular basis, manifested as generic series of conferences, debates, meetings, displays of Romanian movies, Romanian visual arts exhibitions, and theater festivals. All these endeavor to keep the already gained public and to include new categories of target groups such as the potential audiences of cultural and academic events in urban settings. In that respect, we have organized series of movie shows at the Romanian Cultural Institute, visual arts exhibitions, international tours of highly-ranked exhibitions, less conventional photo exhibitions, photo-video performances, and various Romanian film festivals. In other words, we aim at highlighting and making widely known the cultural ambassadors of Romania.


The Performing Arts Section carries out the following major tasks:
1. It supports the circuit of artworks and promotes the intercultural dialog;
2. It supports the mobility of artists and specialists in this field;
3. It identifies the partnership opportunities to organize highly-ranked international events such as festivals, contests, biennales, workshops, roundtables;
4. It cooperates with other departments and directions to achieve its proposed targets and to fulfill its particular tasks;
5. It carries out other tasks stated by law as well as tasks given purposely by the Institute’s board.
