LEGAL DEPARTMENT

The Legal Department assures that all procedures, activities, and official documents of the Institute are in accordance with legal norms. Likewise, the department offers legal consultations and issues opinions from a legal standpoint on each of Institute’s activities. The Legal Department reports to the President of the Romanian Cultural Institute.

The Legal Department is headed by a department chief and exercises the following attributes:
1. Supervises the application of and proposes measures to ensure the respecting of the provisions of regulations in the activities carried out by the Institute;
2. Collaborates on legal matters with other public institutions;
3. Keeps track of Romanian legislation and informs the other departments and the leadership of the Institute about regulations affecting the Institute’s field of activity;
4. Provides legal respresentation in court or in cases of arbitration to which the Institute is a party;
5. Draws up or comments, as needed, on contracts, agreements, and other documents of a similar nature that touch upon the legal resposibilities of the Institute;
6. Analyses and formulates the Institute’s point of view regarding international agreements relating to the Institute’s field of activity;
7. Issues opinions on the legality of measures to be taken by the administration of the Institute in the execution of its activities as well as on documents relating to the economic responsibilities of the Institute;
8. Supports the personnel of the Institute in interpreting and consistently applying the regulations pertaining to the Institute’s field of activity;
9. Responds to requests of a legal nature pertaining to the Institute’s field of activity submitted by organizations or individuals;
10. Analyses and formulates the Institute’s point of view regarding regulatory projects initiated by public authorities that are related to the Institute’s field of activity; analyses and collaborates with the latter to promote the inclusion in the projects under comment of the proposals and observations it has formulated;
11. Collaborates with other departments and divisions to accomplish its objectives and fulfill its attributes;
12. Fulfills any other attributes established by law, as well as those expressly conferred by the leadership of the Institute.
