On 21st-22nd February 2012, took place the meeting of the jury that analyzed the projects received within the program ”Fostering Artistic Practices” organized by the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research of Venice and the Romanian Institute for Culture “Dimitrie Cantemir” of Istanbul. The jury commission decided that the following three wining projects will take place during 2012:1. Bogdan Gârbovan – „Uniforme și veşminte“, for the Small Gallery of the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research of Venice.
2. Alina Popa (Biroul de Cercetări Melodramatice, together with Irina Gheorghe, Claudiu Cobilanschi & Ştefan Tiron) – „The Turkish Dream“, for Depo Gallery in Istanbul.
3. Dilek Winchester – „Sidelined Histories in the Tipographic Space“, for the New Gallery of the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research of Venice. [...]

The Directorate General for Romanian Cultural Institutes Abroad (DGRCIA) has launched the 2011 edition of the Romanian Cultural Institutes Network brochure. 2011 was a dynamic year for the RCI, one rich in cultural projects, which bore fruit also thanks to the seeds sown in previous years. The creativity of Romanian artists is gaining an ever wider audience abroad, and increasing numbers of prestigious cultural institutes are coming to us to request the participation of Romanian artists in their programmes. The Romanian Cultural Institute offers 2 student placement positions totally exempted from the participation fee and 4 places with a 50% exemption. These places are intended for students in Romanian studies departments abroad, and/or for those individuals who use the Romanian language in their scientific documentation, translation or who are editing works about Romanian culture and civilization. The British Council Romania, an institutional partner of the Romanian Cultural Institute in the Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Courses, offers two grants of 1,100 € each that cover the participation costs for two British students (preferably graduate or post-graduate students, working on a topic dealing with Europe in general and Romania in particular).

Alexandru Mina, the sixteen month old son of our colleague Rodica Șerban, is suffering from a rare form of cancer. The initial diagnosis needs to be confirmed at a medical facility from abroad, where he could also receive adequate treatment.
